Yes of course. We have a jetty with padding to protect it while you are moored up and you can launch from the public launch site by the Malgas Ferry (Pont) You do need a licence to be on the river and there are by-laws you should make yourself aware of.
It's a 42km drive off the N2 onto a dirt road which changes constantly in terms of terrain. If it's been graded recently then there are few issues with the exception of the last few kilometres which we do suggest you only come down in a 4X4/4X2 due to ground clearance and some loose rocks - see videos for details.
Yes 100% you should try your luck as the river has lots of big "Grunters" to catch! Remember your rod licence.
Yes of course, brand new in June 2025! Wood Fired takes about 2 hours to heat up lekker!
No it's river water - Please bring fresh drinking water or buy from the local shop on way.The water will be clear, filtered and 100% safe from July 2025. it will be drinkable but it will still have a salty taste we are told as that can't be removed.
No - Jet Skis are not permitted on the river.
yes we do enough to stream a movie for the kids and check your mails although you won't want to once you are there!
3 Double bedrooms (2 en-suite) and one kids room with 2 bunk beds and an extra pull out bed on one of the bunk beds.
3 in total. 2 en-suites and one main bathroom with a bath and shower. The en-suites are showers, toilets and sinks only.
They will be either handed over by Thomas who lives next door in the small unit next to their garage or he will leave them in the door for you depending on time of arrival.
Perfectly safe although it's still advisable to lock up to avoid any chancers - no reported issues since we built the house and have been staying in Malgas for the past 5 years. It's a very friendly area and everyone is there to have fun and relax.
The music should be turned down by 10pm and the area is well built up with neighbours either side although you do feel like you have the area to yourself most of the time. No building work taking place as no plots left. The birds will sing at some point though :)
